2013 OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

GREEN BAY PACKERS

RB - EDDIE LACY (ALABAMA/2ND ROUND)

Lacy had a stellar rookie season for the Packers. He really picked up the slack for the offense, during the seven game stretch when QB Aaron Rodgers was injured. Lacy was also named first team All-Pro. He finished the year with 284 attempts, 1178 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes, for 257 yards.

Also considered: Le'veon Bell, RB, Steelers; Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers; Gio Bernard, RB, Bengals.

2013 DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

BUFFALO BILLS

ILB - KIKO ALONSO (OREGON/2ND ROUND)

Alonso was a tackling machine for Buffalo this year. His play phenomenal for the first 12 weeks of the year, before he hit the proverbial "rookie wall". Alonso finished the season with 159 tackles, 2 sacks, and 4 interceptions.

Also considered: Tyrann Mathieu, DS, Cardinals; Sheldon Richardson, DT, Jets; Alec Ogletree, OLB, Rams.

WEEK SEVENTEEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

ATLANTA FALCONS

ILB - PAUL WORRILOW (UDFA/DELAWARE)

Worrilow has been a great find for the Falcons. He led the team in tackles this season. In Sunday's loss to the Panthers, Worrilow finished with 13 tackles and one sack. He finished the year with 127 tackles and two sacks.

WEEK SIXTEEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

RB - LE'VEON BELL (2ND ROUND/MICHIGAN STATE)

Bell rushed for 124 yards in the Steelers 38-31 win over the Packers, in snowy Green Bay. Bell scored the winning touchdown with 1:08 to go in the game. He is a serious contender for the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

WEEK FIFTEEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

GREEN BAY PACKERS

RB - EDDIE LACY (2ND ROUND/ALABAMA)

With the Packers down 26-3 at half to the Cowboys, they went on to score 34 second half points to win 37-36. Lacy accounted for 171 yards from scrimmage, including the go-ahead touchdown with 1:31 left in the game. Lacy is within 60 yards of the Packers rookie rushing record. He is right now the favorite for offensive rookie of the year.

WEEK FOURTEEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CINCINNATI BENGALS

RB - GIO BERNARD (2ND ROUND/NORTH CAROLINA)

There were many worthy performances that could have won this week. Bernard ran for 99 yards against the Colts, and he caught 4 passes for 49 yards. He is the playmaker in the backfield the Bengals have needed for years. Bernard is one of two rookies with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage (Eddie Lacy). He is a candidate for offensive rookie of the year.

WEEK THIRTEEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

RB - LE'VEON BELL (2ND ROUND/MICHIGAN STATE)

Bell ran for 73 yards and a touch down and caught seven passes for another 63 yards in the Steelers 22-20 loss to the Ravens. Bell was not highly thought of by us coming into the draft, but once he got healthy he has produced for Pittsburgh. He took a vicious hit towards the end of the game, but we don't think he was seriously injured.

WEEK TWELVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

GREEN BAY PACKERS

RB - EDDIE LACY (2ND ROUND/ALABAMA)

Without Aaron Rodgers, the Packers offense has lacked it's usual identity. They have become a run-reliant team. Eddie Lacy has made that an easier transition. Lacy has been getting better every week, and had his best performance to date. In the 26-26 tie against the Vikings, lacy ran for 110 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. he also caught six passes for 48 yards. He also seems to be having more early success than his former Alabama teammates Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram.

WEEK ELEVEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

QB - MIKE GLENNON (3RD ROUND/NC STATE)

Glennon diced up the Atlanta secondary on Sunday. He threw 231 yards and touchdowns, while completing 87% of his passes. The Buccaneers defeated the reeling Falcons 41-28. It is Tampa Bay's second win in a row after starting the season 0-8. After taking over for Josh Freeman, Glennon has made steady improvements. I am still not a 100% believer in Glennon, but he may develop into a mid-level NFL starter.

WEEK TEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

ST. LOUIS RAMS

WR - TAVON AUSTIN (1ST ROUND/WEST VIRGINIA)

Tavon Austin finally had the takeover performance we have been waiting for. In the Rams shocking 38-8 win over the Colts, Austin had one of the most dynamic punt returns I have evr seen. He coupled the 98 yard punt return, with two touchdowns covering 57 and 81 yards. Austin was one of the best athletes in the 2013 draft, and it is good to see offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer remembered he was on the team. Hopefully, we will see more performances like this the rest of the season.

WEEK NINE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

ST. LOUIS RAMS

RB - ZAC STACY (5TH ROUND/VANDERBILT)

Since taking over the starting role a few weeks ago, Stacy has thrived. Against the Titans on Sunday, Stacy ran for 127 yards and one touchdown. He also caught six passes for 51 yards. It is his second straight 100-yard rushing game. Stacy has been the only real bright spot for the now 3-6 Rams.

WEEK EIGHT ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

ARIZONA CARDINALS

RB - ANDRE ELLINGTON (6TH ROUND/CLEMSON)

Rashard Mendenhall may not get his job back. Andre Ellington, a pre-draft favorite amongst the internet draft community, has taken off over the last few weeks. Ellington ran for 154 yards and 1 TD, including an 80 yard touchdown gallop. His run helped further bury the Falcons 27-13. Along with fellow rookie Stepfan Taylor, they represent the future of the Cardinals backfield.

WEEK SEVEN ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

TE - JORDAN REED (3RD ROUND/FLORIDA)

The Redskins have been looking for a breakthrough from Jordan Reed, and it finally came. Reed had nine catches for 134 yards and a touchdown, in the Redskins 45-41 shootout win over the Bears. Reed possesses similar athleticism as former Florida TE Aaron Hernandez (hopefully less crazy). He has impressed coaches so much that they are reportedly looking to trade veteran TE Fred Davis. Reed should continue to emerge in 2013.

WEEK SIX ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

BUFFALO BILLS

ILB - KIKO ALONSO (2ND ROUND/OREGON)

Kiko Alonso continued the stellar start to his rookie season. Against the Bengals, Alonso was all over the field like he was a Tasmanian Devil. Alonso totaled 22 tackles in the Bills 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati. He is easily the frontrunner for the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

WEEK FIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

NEW YORK JETS

QB - GENO SMITH (2ND ROUND/WEST VIRGINIA)

The Geno Smith roller coaster continued on Monday night. Smith led his third game winning drive, leading to all three of his team's wins. He showed great accuracy last night, completing sixteen of his twenty passes, for 199 yards, and three touchdowns. Smith played flawless after entering the game leading the NFL in turnovers with 11. If Smith can keep the turnovers under control, the Jets will be playoff contenders deep into the season.

WEEK FOUR ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

BUFFALO BILLS

ILB - KIKO ALONSO (2ND ROUND/OREGON)

Kiko Alonso continued the stellar start to his rookie season. Against the Ravens, Alonso had 5 tackles and 2 interceptions. He sealed the Bills 23-20 win with his interception of Joe Flacco with 57 seconds left. So far in 2013, Alonso has 32 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 1 sack. The Bills are a very young team, and it is exciting to watch them grow together.

WEEK THREE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

NEW YORK JETS

QB - GENO SMITH (2ND ROUND/WEST VIRGINIA)

Geno Smith continues to show that he was the best QB in the 2013 draft. He out-dueled fellow rookie E.J. Manuel to give the Jets a 27-20 win. Smith was not without mistakes, throwing two interceptions, but the positives outweighed the negatives. He was 16 of 29 for 331 yards with two touchdowns. He also has a rushing touchdown. Geno continues to throw a great deep ball, connecting with Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill on 50 plus yard touchdowns. If he continues to play at this level, the Jets could contend in the AFC East.

WEEK TWO ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

HOUSTON  TEXANS

WR - DEANDRE HOPKINS (1ST ROUND/CLEMSON)

After a solid week one performance against the Chargers, Deandre Hopkins had a breakout performance in week two. Against the Titans, Hopkins had 7 catches for 117 yards and the game winning three-yard touchdown in overtime, giving the Texans a 30-24 win. He also had a 25-yard reception on the final drive to set up the TD. Hopkins is the perfect complement for veteran Andre Johnson right now, and he shows no signs that he won't be the heir apparent to multi-time all pro player.

WEEK ONE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

NEW YORK JETS

QB - GENO SMITH (2ND ROUND/WEST VIRGINIA)

In his first career start, the new Jets QB led his to a 4th quarter comeback. Geno Smith completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts, for 256 yards and a touchdown. He also had 47 yards rushing. Smith was our top ranked QB in the 2013 season, and if he can keep this type of production up, the Jets will have a better season than most anticipated.
