Weekly Update (11/3/15)

After Week 8, the Bengals, Patriots, Panthers, and Broncos all remain unbeaten. There has never been four 7-0 teams this late in the season in NFL history. The Bengals needed to come from behind to beat the Steelers, the Panthers defeated the Colts in overtime, and the Broncos (Packers) and Patriots(Dolphins) cruised to wins. The Lions are back in possession of the number one pick.

The 49ers have traded TE Vernon Davis and a 2016 7th round pick to the Broncos for a 6th round pick in 2016 and a 6th round pick in 2017. Davis reportedly had grown tired of 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (who has since been benched). He presents a significant upgrade over the current Denver tight ends. He could give the Broncos offense a nice boost down the stretch.

As of today, there are 10 head coaching vacancies at FBS schools. Frank Beamer (Virginia Tech) retired after 29 years on the sidelines. Hawaii fired Norm Chow. Virginia Tech and Hawaii join Illinois, Miami (FL), Minnesota, North Texas, Southern Cal, South Carolina, and UCF in head coaching searches.
