ANALYSIS:
The Cowboys
best pick may very well have been the signing of undrafted offensive tackle
La’el Collins. Collins fell out of the draft due to circumstances surrounding a
murder in Baton Rouge, from which he was later exonerated of. Collins was my #1
tackle prospect, and will likely start at guard from day one. Randy Gregory was
a top ten talent that fell to the bottom of the second round after he failed a
drug test at the Combine. Byron Jones is a very good
corner, who jumped out of the stadium at the Combine. Antwan Goodley and
Deontay Greenberry have solid chances to compete for backup receiver spots.

ANALYSIS: The Giants
needed a new tackle so Ereck Flowers fits the bill. He is a work in progress however.
Landon Collins was a steal at the top of round two. Collins was the top rated
safety and a top ten player for me. Owa Odighizuwa has pass rush ability and is
solid against the run.

Agholar is a perfect fit for a Chip Kelly offense. He can line up all over the
field. He is an excellent route runner and is a good punt returner as well.
Eric Rowe is a corner/safety hybrid with long arms and good cover skills.
Jordan Hicks is a rangy linebacker who would have been ranked higher if not for
his long injury history. JaCorey Shepherd is a very solid cover man. Brett
Boyko was one of my favorite players to watch this year. He is a nasty blocker
that should get a chance to earn a spot. Devante Davis is a big physical wide
receiver that fits the Eagles mold. Travis Raciti is an under-sized defensive
tackle that has some pass rush ability.

ANALYSIS: Brandon Scherff is a pretty safe pick by Washington, but he should
be a plug-and-play starter for a decade. Preston Smith is another solid hand,
who can start for multiple years. There were at least 15-20 better running
backs on the board when the Redskins picked Matt Jones. Martrell Spaight and
Jamison Crowder should be core special teams guys. I think Arie Kouandjio can
compete for a starting role in the future.

ANALYSIS: Kevin White had some of the biggest upside of any receiver in the
draft. He should help ease the replacement of Brandon Marshall. Eddie Goldman
should push to be the starting nose tackle. Hroniss Grasu was one of the best
centers in the draft. His injuries this season pushed his grade down a little.
Jeremy Langford, Adrian Amos, and Tayo Fabuluje should all compete for backup
spots. John Timu is player I like a lot. He could compete for a backup ILB spot
and be a core special teamer.

did a lot to aid the depth of their offensive line with the selections of Laken
Tominson in the first and Corey Robinson in the 7th. They also
acquired veteran offensive guard Manny Ramirez in their first round pick swap
with Denver. Ameer Abdullah is a versatile back that should replace Reggie
Bush. UDFA Zach Zenner should make the team as the 4th RB. Alex
Carter was a huge reach in round three. Gabe Wright could help replace
Ndamukong Suh if he were more consistent.

ANAYLSIS: This
was a weird draft for Green Bay. They drafted a safety in the first round
(Demarious Randall) to play corner and a corner in the second round (Quinten
Rollins) to play safety. The good news they both have tremendous ball skills
and can play. I just don’t get the position switches or reaching for them when
they did. Ty Montgomery is essentially Randall Cobb with much less athleticism.
Jake Ryan has some pass rush ability. Brett Hundley strikes me a choice they
hope they can develop and ship off for a higher draft pick in 2-3 years.

ANALYSIS: My only real problem with
the Minnesota draft was selecting Trae Waynes over Devante Parker. I just felt
they needed more playmakers over more corners. But Mike Zimmer loves him some
corners. Eric Kendricks is a sideline-to-sideline defensive playmaker. Danielle
Hunter is a raw pass rusher with tremendous upside; I just question his overall
dedication. T.J. Clemmings was a first round talent who slid to the fourth
because of injury concerns. He could be a long time starter if he legs hold
out. MyCole Pruitt and Stefon Diggs have a chance to make contributions on the
offensive side of the ball. I like the chances of Taylor Heinike to at the very
least make the practice squad, if not as the #3 QB.

Beasley is the pass rusher the Falcons have been missing since the prime of
John Abraham. I just wouldn’t ask him to try and stop the run too often. Jalen
Collins is a very good corner, with length, which also can play safety in a
pinch. Tevin Coleman will likely be the #1 running back. He has great breakaway
speed. Justin Hardy is an upgrade over the departed Harry Douglas. Grady
Jarrett is a pocket destroyer. His best role to start will be in a rotation,
but he should contribute more heavily sooner rather than later. Kevin White and
Joey Mbu also should contend for bottom of the roster spots.

people didn’t like the selection of Shaq Thompson in round one, but I loved it.
Thompson is superb athlete. He will start out as the weak side linebacker, but
will likely replace Thomas Davis is a few years on the strong side. Devin
Funchess gives the Panthers another towering red zone threat to pair with
Kelvin Benjamin. Daryl Williams was drafted into a great situation. On most
teams he could have been a future starter with some development. In Carolina,
he will likely have a chance to start very early. Cameron Artis-Payne has a
chance to get some carries early.

ANALYSIS: The
Saints made a lot of reaches in this draft. Andrus Peat should start on the
right side this season. Stephone Anthony is a run thumper who fits a need for
the Saints, but was drafted by the New Orleans about two rounds early. I really
love Hau’oli Kikaha as a pass rusher, but anything else you ask him to do as an
outside linebacker is pushing it. Garrett Grayson will attempt to be groomed as
the heir apparent to Drew Brees, but I don’t think he has the skill level to
develop into a consistent NFL starter. He definitely can’t be one as skilled as
Brees. The two corners the Saints drafted, P.J. Williams and Damian Swann, were
the best value picks they had. They should contribute early for a team that
needs all the help they can get at CB.

Winston was the best QB in the draft and Tampa Bay desperately needs him to be
that. Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet should be day one starters for what was a
terrible offensive line a year ago. I really like Kenny Bell and think he was
severely underrated. He is a great blocker and has excellent hands. Kwon
Alexander is a great athlete at linebacker, but just isn’t very consistent.
Look for Chris Hackett to not only make the roster as an UDFA but to earn
significant playing time.

missed on the pass rusher they wanted in Shane Ray, so they settle on high
upside offensive tackle D.J. Humphries. In the second round, they drafted Shane
Ray’s teammate Markus Golden. Golden is a solid pass rusher, but he isn’t
nearly as talented as Ray. I love David Johnson. He is the most balanced
running back in the draft. Against Iowa, he had over 200 yards receiving. Shaq
Riddick could have just as much impact as Golden. I had no idea who Rodney
Gunter was when the Cardinals drafted him in the 4th round, and I
still don’t know. J.J. Nelson was the fastest player at the combine and the
best punt returner in the draft. “Mr. Irrelevant” Gerald Christian can make an
impact as a reserve tight end.

ANALYSIS: Arik
Armstead should help ease the loss of the retiring Justin Smith at the 5tech
position. Jaquiski Tartt joins his former high school teammate Jimmie Ward in
the 49ers secondary. He is still raw, but is very physical and has decent ball
skills. Eli Harold is a very good pass rushing prospect, but he may struggle in
coverage. Mike Davis is a well round back, who should compete with Kendall
Hunter for carries as the #3 RB. Blake Bell has a lot of untapped potential.
The former QB is still learning the position. Deandre Smelter tore his ACL late
in the season, and becomes the latest San Francisco “redshirt” pick. I like the
potential of Rory Anderson, but he needs to have more consistent hands.

ANALYSIS: The
Rams drafted the best running back in the draft in Todd Gurley. Gurley is the
best RB prospect to enter the league since Adrian Peterson. He tore his ACL
midway through last season, but should be ready for the start of the season.
The Rams beefed up their offensive line depth with the picks of Rob Havenstein,
Jamon Brown, and Andrew Donnal. Havenstein has a shot to start on the right
side. Sean Mannion should compete with Austin Davis to be the #2 QB behind Nick
Foles. Bryce Hager will be a special team’s demon. Louis Trinca-Pasat and
Martin Ifedi both have good chances to make the team as reserves.

ANALYSIS: For
the second consecutive year, the Seahawks have finished with my worst rated
draft. The selection of Frank Clark has stirred up controversy because of his
low character. Tyler Lockett was the best pick of the bunch, as he is an
immediate upgrade in the slot and a boost on special teams. Obum Gwacham has
pass rush potential. He is a good athlete after converting from receiver.
Kristjan Sokoli is making an interesting conversion from defensive tackle to
offensive guard. Terry Poole and Mark Glowinski should provide depth on the
offensive line.
