WEEK TWO
WASHINGTON STATE @ NEVADA
Ø NEVADA SR QB
CODY FAJARDO is a tremendous athlete
with good speed. His elongated release will prevent him from becoming an elite
passer. He does process his reads quickly.
Ø NEVADA SR DE
BROCK HEKKING is a big ball of
energy. He has some nice pass rush moves. He will make an NFL roster on effort,
alone. Hekking can be a bit too aggressive for his own good. He needs to scale
back on the post play schenanigans.
WESTERN KENTUCKY @ ILLINOIS
Ø WESTERN
KENTUCKY SR CB CAM THOMAS has solid
coverage skills and closing speed. He tackles really well in the open field.
Ø ILLINOIS
RSOPH QB WES LUNT is a transfer from
Oklahoma State. He has a big accurate arm. He puts up huge numbers in the
Illini offensive system. I highly doubt he will enter the 2015 NFL Draft, but
he is a name to remember for the 2016 draft evaluation process.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC @ ALABAMA
Ø FAU SR CB
D’JOUN SMITH missed the game with an
injury. This would have been a good evaluation game for him.
Ø ALABAMA JR
RB KENYAN DRAKE gets buried behind
the other ALABAMA running backs on the depth chart, but he is immensely
talented. Drake can cut on a dime, he has good speed, and he is really good in
the passing game. JR RB T.J. YELDON will
likely be the higher rated back, but the gap between Drake and Yeldon is not as
huge as one would think.
EASTERN WASHINGTON @ WASHINGTON
Ø EASTERN
WASHINGTON SR RB QUINCY FORTE has
extremely quick feet. He catches the ball well and also help in the return
game. He has top-100 sleeper potential.
SOUTHERN CAL @ STANFORD
Ø SOUTHERN CAL
JR RB JAVORIOUS ALLEN has good
acceleration, vision, and cutting ability. He however is not going to break a
lot of tackles.
Ø SOUTHERN CAL
JR DT LEONARD WILLIAMS is a beast.
Williams was very disruptive against STANFORD
with a bum ankle. He has violent hands and he disengages quickly.
Ø STANFORD JR
QB KEVIN HOGAN has an elongated
release, he throws from a funky arm angle, and his arm isn’t the strongest. He
also locks onto one receiver and allows the defense to jump all over it. The
stock is heading down on Hogan, quickly.
BALL STATE @ IOWA
Ø BALL STATE
SR RB JAHWAN EDWARDS is a patient
runner who will grind out yards. Edwards is not going to win a track meet, but
if you need three to four yards, he will get you three to four yards.
Ø IOWA SR OT
BRANDON SCHERFF is considered a
top-20 prospect. He left the game in the first half with a knee injury. He
returned later in the game with everything appearing to be fine.
MICHIGAN STATE @ OREGON
Ø OREGON JR QB
MARCUS MARIOTA is currently our #1
overall prospect. Mariota has a big and projectable frame. He has a huge arm
and has track speed. He gets a little rattled in the pocket and he does not
play within a pro-style system. However, there is enough on tape to see he
projects well to the NFL game.
EAST CAROLINA @ SOUTH CAROLINA
Ø EAST
CAROLINA SR QB SHANE CARDEN does not
have a big arm and is not very athletic. He throws a very catchable and is very
productive.
Ø EAST
CAROLINA SR WR JUSTIN HARDY has great
hands and is an excellent route runner. However, he is not the swiftest player.
Ø SOUTH
CAROLINA SR TE RORY ANDERSON is a
tremendous athlete, but is undersized to play TE in the NFL. He also seems to
lose his concentration on routine catches at times.
VIRGINIA TECH @ OHIO STATE
Ø VIRGINIA
TECH SR OG DAVID WANG is a versatile
offensive lineman, who can play all three interior positions. Wang has enough
athleticism to get to the second level. He does not have the brute strength
necessary to dominate defensive linemen. Wang is very susceptible to an inside
rush.
COLORADO STATE @ BOISE STATE
Ø BOISE STATE
JR RB JAY AJAYI has a quick burst,
great cutting ability, and is very physical. He is tremendous in the passing
game. Ajayi is a better north-south runner than an east-west runner. He gets up
the field in a hurry. In my rankings, the arrow is pointing straight up for
Ajayi.
Ø COLORADO
STATE JR RB JASEN ODEN, JR. intrigues
me. I really can’t even put my finger on the reason why. He hasn’t done really
done anything to scream special to me, but he has good size and is good in the
passing game. He has essentially brand new tires as he only has five career
touches at Colorado State. He is a name I will keep my eyes on.
