WEEK FOUR
AUBURN @ KANSAS STATE
Ø AUBURN JR WR
SAMMIE COATES AND JR WR D’HAQUILLE WILLIAMS are superior athletes. They are both fast and physical. In this game
their concentration level was low. They both dropped multiple passes.
Ø AUBURN SR DS
JERMAINE WHITEHEAD was suspended for
a violation of team rules.
Ø KANSAS STATE
SR WR TYLER LOCKETT is a fast and
shifty wide receiver. He will win the most from the slot at the next level. He
has great hands and is great in the return game.
SE OKLAHOMA @ HENDERSON STATE (AR)
Ø HENDERSON
STATE SR QB KEVIN RODGERS has NFL
size (6’3” 215 pounds). He has a big arm and is accurate. He tries to force in
the occasional pass that would get him in trouble against a higher level of
competition. I will need to see Rodgers in an all-star game atmosphere to see
how he performs against stronger competition. The best sign for him is that he
dominates the Division-II level like a layer of his caliber should.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS @ PURDUE
Ø SOUTHERN
ILLINOIS SR TE MYCOLE PRUITT is a
solid prospect. He blocks well in the run game. He does a good job setting the
edge. Pruitt has good speed, but not great speed. He catches the ball very
naturally. He is a solid day three prospect.
HAWAII @ COLORADO
Ø COLORADO SR
CB GREG HENDERSON is a very good
corner prospect. Henderson has good skills in press coverage. He has good
recovery speed. I only saw one instance where a HAWAII receiver caught a pass
on him. He is also very good in run support. He was called for one defensive
holding penalty. I really like what I saw from him in this game.
FLORIDA @ ALABAMA
Ø ALABAMA JR
DS LANDON COLLINS is a dynamic
football player. Collins is great in coverage, with the ability to read the QB’s
eyes to make plays. Collins is also an excellent edge blitzer and is very good
in run defense.
Ø ALABAMA SR
FB JALSTON FOWLER has embraced the
fullback role. Fowler came to ALABAMA as a running back, but after a knee
injury, he made the conversion. Fowler is good in pass protection and is a
solid run blocker. He also has solid hands. There is a place for him at the
next level.
VIRGINIA @ BYU
Ø VIRGINIA SR
RB KEVIN PARKS is what I would call “just
another guy”. At best, he is a third down back at the next level. I watch him
and I don’t see anything special.
INDIANA @ MISSOURI
Ø MISSOURI JR
RB RUSSELL HANSBROUGH is a very quick
runner. He has tremendous explosion. He can’t create his own space. He doesn’t
have the power to break through tackles.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS @ ARKANSAS
Ø ARKANSAS JR
RB JOHNATHAN WILLIAMS is the
seemingly forgotten man in the Razorback backfield. SO RB ALEX COLLINS gets the bulk of the hype (and well deserved),
but Williams is a very good back. Williams is a patient runner. He has a nice
jump cut. Williams is not a burner. I did not see him get many opportunities in
the passing game.
SOUTH CAROLINA @ VANDERBILT
Ø SOUTH
CAROLINA SR DS BRISON WILLIAMS played
corner back for the first three games. Against VANDERBILT, he was moved back to
safety. His play improved with the move. Williams seemed to break better on the
ball this week, including a pass he ran back for a touchdown right before the
half. That being said, Williams is physically limited, and will likely be an
undrafted free agent.
LA-LAFAYETTE @ BOISE STATE
Ø LA-LAFAYETTE
SR QB TERRANCE BROADWAY has a well
built frame and a good arm. He has good speed in the open field. His accuracy
on intermediate passes is lacking. In this game, his offensive line didn’t give
him much help. At this stage, he is likely a camp arm. The CFL might be his
best bet.
