DFD Update (4/21/16)

***DFD Update (4/21/16)***

The Browns have traded the #2 overall pick and a 2017 4th-round pick to the Eagles for the 8th overall pick, a 2016 3rd-round pick (#77), a 2016 4th round pick (#100), a 2017 1st-round pick, and a 2018 2nd-round pick. The Browns obviously are not enamored with any of the QB’s at the top of the draft, so they added a lot of pieces for the future. The Eagles have traded an awful lot to acquire a QB even though they have spent a ton of money between Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

The Titans have traded the #1 overall pick, their 4th round pick (#113), and their 6th round pick (#177) in the 2016 NFL Draft to the Rams in exchange for their 2016 1st round pick (#15 overall), their two 2nd round picks (#43 & #45), their 3rd round pick (#76), and their 2017 1st & 3rd round picks. This is the farthest away from the 1st overall pick a team has ever traded up for in NFL Draft history. The Rams have a talented enough roster that they feel they are a QB away from contending. The Titans have many holes, but have their franchise QB in Marcus Mariota. They now have a chance to draft potentially SIX day one starters. The Rams are not saying what player they are taking, but you do not trade up 14 spots without a plan. I have read reports where Carson Wentz (QB/North Dakota State) is the guy and I am inclined to believe those. It is going to a fun next two weeks of speculation.

We are into the home stretch to the 2016 NFL Draft. All pro days are now complete. Some players have a medical re-check in Indianapolis this week. This is most important for OLB Jaylon Smith of Notre Dame. The former Fighting Irish play maker tore his knee up badly against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. His initial test at the combine did not produce good results.

We have also reached the point in the process where a potential athlete just needs to keep his nose clean. Every year however, we always have at least 2-3 guys who can't keep their name out of the press. This year is no exception. Last week, Baylor DE Shawn Oakman had his name linked to a sexual assault investigation. Over the weekend, Western Kentucky TE Tyler Higbee was arrested for allegedly assaulting a man at a bar. The alleged victim is still hospitalized. Both players at this point will likely be drafted late, if they are drafted at all.

The Broncos have traded OT Ryan Clady and a 2016 7th-round pick to the Jets for a 2016 5th-round pick. Clady became expendable after they acquired Russell Okung. The Jets needed a tackle after D'Brickashaw Ferguson retired.

The DFD POSITION RANKINGS and TOP 100 are now up to date to reflect the all-star games, combine, and pro days. I have also extended the big board to reflect players ranked 101 through the final draft pick at 253.

My third MOCK DRAFT of the year is up.

Good friend of DFD Andy Miley asked me to guest write a scouting report on South Carolina RB Brandon Wilds for his website Dynasty Blitz. You can read that HERE!

We are only 14  DAYS away from the 2016 NFL Draft!!!
