ANALYSIS: Buffalo added a few pieces to help them make a playoff run this year. Shaq Lawson should help replace/improve upon the pass rush lost with the departure of Mario Williams. Reggie Ragland should be a day one starter at middle linebacker. He could be a tackling machine in this defensive scheme. Adolphus Washington could help provide some pass rush from the 3-technique spot. Cardale Jones is the prototypical developmental QB. He will likely not be active on game days this season but could feasibly compete for the starting job next season with Tyrod Taylor. Jonathan Williams will likely be the #3 RB on the depth chart behind LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams, and will have to fight to get carries. Kolby Listenbee is one of the fastest players in this draft class. Eric Striker intrigues me the most of all among the undrafted players brought in. He has one specific skill (attack the QB) that Rex Ryan may be able to exploit well. The Bills draft ranked #2 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: Most of Miami’s value in this draft came on the third day, but a social media sabotage benefitted them greatly. Minutes before the draft came on the air, a video showing Laremy Tunsil smoking marijuana using a bong attached to a gas mask was shared on his Twitter account. Tunsil has said his account was hacked. The presumptive #1 pick a month ago, slid to the 13th pick. If Tunsil can keep his nose clean, he can be one of the best left tackles in the NFL for a very long time. Xavien Howard is a long armed corner, who should be able to compete for a starting spot quickly. I was a little surprised Kenyan Drake went I the third round, but the talent is there. Injuries and ball security have been the knocks on him. Leonte Carroo is a physical wide out who should contribute early in the red zone. Jakeem Grant is a jitterbug on the field. He helps out in the return game immediately, and will likely have some offensive plays manufactured for him. Brandon Doughty will compete with Logan Thomas and Zac Dysert for the #3 QB/practice squad spot. The Dolphins draft ranked #7 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: I know one should not criticize Bill Belichick, since most of their moves pan out, but this draft was one of the worst value wise I have seen. New England drafted five players I did not have a draftable grade on. Of those five, Elandon Roberts was a very productive collegiate linebacker, and should be able to contribute early on special teams. Malcolm Mitchell could develop into a solid third option at receiver. Cyrus Jones at best is a nickel corner. He could be an elite return man though. I actually think undrafted CB Jonathan Jones is a better corner than Cyrus Jones. Jacoby Brissett is an interesting pick since they took a developmental QB a couple of years ago. The Patriots draft ranked dead last in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: The Jets draft was all over the board. In the first round, they drafted one of the fastest linebackers in the draft. Darron Lee should be starting sooner, rather than later. Christian Hackenberg looked like a future #1 pick after his freshman season. The last two years, he has taken a beating and his accuracy has been awful. He joins a QB room that features former starter Geno Smith (a ’13 2nd round pick), Bryce Petty (a ’15 4th round pick), and could eventually see a return of last year’s starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. Jordan Jenkins was a productive LB for Georgia, but not as flashy as his much more heralded teammate Leonard Floyd. Brandon Shell can provide solid depth at tackle. The Jets draft ranked #20 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.
