ANALYSIS: Atlanta reached on every pick they made (even it was just a few spots). Keanu Neal may end up starting at safety this year, but he had no business being picked at 17 overall. Deion Jones is a sideline-to-sideline type of linebacker, but he is undersized. Austin Hooper (probably their best pick) may finally be the answer at tight end they have been searching for since the retirement of Tony Gonzalez. I like the chances of Brandon Wilds and Brian Poole to make the roster as special teams/depth guys. The Falcons draft ranked #28 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: Carolina drafted Vernon Butler, a pass rushing defensive tackle, in the first round. The problem is they already have two pretty good pass rushing defensive tackles with Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei. I guess the logic is they won’t be able to pay both of them after next season. After rescinding the franchise tag from all-pro corner Josh Norman, they proceeded to draft three to replace him. Sad part is I like the third one they drafted the best. James Bradberry (according to the DFD value board) was the second biggest reach in the ENTIRE draft. I am not saying he or Daryl Worley will not contribute, I am just saying they were drafted about 3 rounds too soon. Zach Sanchez has the ball skills to make an early impact. Jeremy Cash was the only player in my Top 100 to go undrafted. They view him as a LB/safety hybrid. I also like Keyarris Garrett. They can’t seem to get enough of these tree like receivers. The Panthers draft ranked #25 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: New Orleans had a solid draft for once. Sheldon Rankins, fresh of his dominance at the Senior Bowl, gives them some needed interior pass rush. Michael Thomas is a faster version of Marques Colston and should fit right in. They gave up their 4th round pick to move up to select Vonn Bell, which I assume spells an end to the oft-injured Saints career of Jairus Byrd. They gave up a 5th round pick in 2017 to acquire Canadian defensive end David Onyemata. They have had some success going this route before with Akiem Hicks. Daniel Lasco is a change of pace back that tested very well. The Saints always do a good job in the “8th Round” and this year was no exception. They signed SIX players I had draftable grades on. Landon Turner and Jack Allen could both find themselves in the starting lineup down the road. The Saints draft ranked #15 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.

ANALYSIS: If Tampa Bay could have ended the draft after the first two picks, they would have been in good shape. Vernon Hargreaves was our top ranked corner and he immediately becomes the best CB on their team. Noah Spence was rated #11 on my board because of his pure pass rush skills, but his off the field issues likely left him available in the 2nd. They gave up a 3rd & 4th round pick to move up to draft Roberto Aguayo. Aguayo may be the best kicking prospect in years, but that is WAY TOO MUCH to give up for that. Ryan Smith was much more highly ranked in draft circles, but I never once saw him play. He didn’t participate in any all-star games. His measurable got him a draftable grade from me. Kivon Cartwright has a chance to make the team if they keep four tight ends. The Buccaneers draft ranked #30 in the league this year according to the DFD value board.
